Step 1: Preheat oven at 400°F and make 1 box instant corn bread mix according to package instructions.
Step 2: Cut 4 hot dogs into thirds.
Step 3: Pour corn bread mixture into greased muffin tins and insert a piece of hot dog into each.
Step 4: Bake for 20 minutes and top with condiment of choice.

I saw the above food project on Stumbleupon and realized that I have these exact ingredients  at home. So I thought, why not give it a try myself.  I got my dad to help me; he made the cornbread mix and I thawed out the hot dog wieners and greased the pan. Now, I poured some corn bread mix into the pan, put the cut hot dog wieners in, and then I poured a little more of the cornbread mix on top. I may have put too much in, so hopefully it doesn’t over flow or come out looking crazy. Well, in 20 minutes we shall see. Also, I added a little bit of shredded cheese inside with the cut wieners to get the full hotdog experience.

(22 minutes later…)They actually didn’t come out bad at all. The corn bread mix came out great and the added hot dog in the middle is a pleasant surprise. However, If you do decide to try this recipe, you may want to add a little something extra to the corn bread mix. My dad made the corn bread mix from scratch. A number of easy corn bread mix recipes can be found on almost any food website, just GOOGLE it. Also, if you want to add cheese make sure you add alot. When I added the cheese I was afraid to add too much and instead I added way too little. Don’t be afraid to add as much as you want. I think it would be a good idea to add onions and peppers to your corn bread mix if that is what you like. With the simplicity of the ingredient I believe that you can go crazy when adding your own little something something to the mix; It will help give a little kick to the overall taste.

Hope you have enjoyed my own take on the hot dog muffins. Until next post!
